OAK PARK CHRISTIAN CHURCH IS AN INDEPENDENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH THAT SHARES A RICH HERITAGE WITH NEARLY 6,000 OTHER CONGREGATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES KNOWN AS THE "CHRISTIAN CHURCHES/CHURCHES OF CHRIST."

This group of churches originated from a movement in the early 19th Century that became known as the Stone-Campbell Reformation (or The American Restoration Movement).  The leaders of this movement, primarily Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone, sought to unify Christians under the authoritativeness of the Bible so that the World could be won to Christ.

OUR FOCUS

 OUR VALUES

GRACE: Grace is rooted first and foremost in the manner in which God has acted toward us.  We are, in turn, compelled to offer that same grace to others.
TRUTH: The word of God must be the foundational truth for all of ministry in the faith community.
MEANING: Only God is eternal, therefore, any true meaning for life must be found and rooted in Him.
COMMUNITY: Jesus instructed that the only way the world would take notice of his followers was because of the depth and vitality of love that they demonstrated to one another. (John 13:34-35)

OUR TEACHINGS

OPCC is a fellowship of Christians that holds the following core teachings:
1. The Bible is THE Word of God and the only authoritative standard for the life and practice of the church and the Christian. (II Tim. 3:16-17; John 17:17)
2. God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe and cares for each person as their Heavenly Father. (Gen. 1:1, 26,27; Matt. 6:9; Rom. 8:15,16)
3. Jesus Christ is God's only Son, who lived a sinless life, died on a cross for our sins, was buried, rose bodily from the dead and is alive today. (I Cor. 15:3-4; II Cor. 5:21)
4. The Holy Spirit dwells within the Christian, empowering them to live a holy life and equipping them with gifts for serving others. (Rom. 8:9-14; Gal. 5:16-26; Acts 2:38; I Cor. 12:4-6)
5. Human beings are created in the image of God, but are separated from God because of sin. (Rom. 3:23; 5:12)
6. We are saved by God's grace, through our faith. Faith includes believing in Jesus Christ as God's Son who died for your sins and was raised from the dead; turning your life over to Jesus as Lord; and being baptized by immersion in water. (Eph. 2:8-9; Acts 2:38)
